Gigs at Prana House

Picture
We had a wonderful gig at Prana House on Saturday 9th April. It was a pleasure to have Peter Knight join us again on trumpet. Mmm, mmm. And what a space! The acoustic is so rich and full. No need for a PA - a rare thing these days. The room was full with a lovely and very appreciative audience.

We also performed with marimba/vibraphone percussion duo Invention in Time at Prana House on Saturday 18th June to a warmly appreciative audience. Once again, the acoustic was fabulous for the instruments and listeners.

Our next gig at Prana House will be November 19th with Peter Knight on trumpet.

New piano venue for Melbourne

Picture
Amadis has recently been gifted a gorgeous grand piano and has made arrangements to house her lovely upright piano at Prana House in Thornbury. Prana House is a progressive yoga and natural therapies centre by day and is fast becoming a well loved music and performance venue by night. It has a great natural acoustic and a sublime atmosphere. Daquqi will do a series of gigs at this unique and rather beautiful venue throughout the year with guest musicians, dancers and visual artists. Prana House is a welcome addition to Melbourne's piano venue options. If you'd like to perform at Prana House with the piano contact Michelle at www.pranahouse.com.au

5-string Tasmanian timber viola

Picture
Myfanwy has commissioned instrument maker Isaac Webb to complete a viola made of Tasmanian timber. The instrument was found some years ago by Isaac's sister at the Hobart recycle centre, ie. the tip! It has a stunning Tasmanian Huon Pine top and a Tasmanian Sassafras back and sides. Turning it into a 5-string will give the instrument the range of both violin and viola in one, something Myfanwy has been wanting for many many years. The instrument will hopefully be completed by Daquqi's first gig at Prana House on April 9th. See gig listing for more details.
